Daniel 8

1. In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me, Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
2. And I saw in the vision; now it was so, that when I saw, I was in Shushan the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.
3. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
4. I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; and no beasts could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself.

Daniel is seeing a vision of the coming of the Media-Persian Empire. The higher horn is Persia who even through they were combined with the kingdom of Media, the Persian empire was always more powerful. The Media Empire existed as separate nations at the same time. Until Cyrus the great combined the two empires. We are coming to the time when the Babylonian Empire only had 13 more years to exist. The Babylonian Empire because of the prophecy of chapter seven were not the super power they were under Nabopollasar, and Nebuchadnezzar. Remember their wings were to be torn off which represented their great world power. Then under God’s plan the new Media-Persian Empire became the new great world power.
5. And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
6. And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the river, and ran upon him in the fury of his power.
5. And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
6. And the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of it there came up four notable horns toward the four winds of heaven.
Alexander the great is the Goat with the single horn between his eyes symbol of him ruling alone. The ram having his two horns broken tells that the Media-Persia empire would lose its power, and that none would be able to stand against Alexander the Great. The great horn being broken is symbol of Alexander the Great dying. The four notable horns were his generals who divided his kingdom into 4 parts, thus toward the four winds of heaven.
9. And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious land.
10. And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and some of the host and of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled upon them.
11. Yea, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the host; and it took away from him the continual burnt-offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12. And the host was given over to it together with the continual burnt-offering through transgression; and it cast down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered.
These verses are speaking of the ruler Antichus Epiphanes. Who was one of them, as the verse states a Greek. If you read the Maccabees, and Josepheus you will see that he for three and one half years killed a lot of Jews, and forbade them to practice Judaism. He even went so far as to erect an altar to his gods in the Holy of Holies in the temple and sacrificed a hog on the altar, defiling the temple.

13. Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burnt-offering, and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14. And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
15. And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16. And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
17. So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was affrighted, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongeth to the time of the end.
18. Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright.
19. And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the latter time of the indignation; for it belongeth to the appointed time of the end.
20. The ram which thou sawest, that had the two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia.
21. And the rough he-goat is the king of Greece: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
22. And as for that which was broken, in the place whereof four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power.
23. And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
24. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper and do his pleasure; and he shall destroy the mighty ones and the holy people.
25. And through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and in their security shall he destroy many: he shall also stand up against the prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
26. And the vision of the evenings and mornings which hath been told is true: but shut thou up the vision; for it belongeth to many days to come.
27. And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king’s business: and I wondered at the vision, but none understood it.
The little horn mentioned here, is different then the one in chapter 7. The one in chapter 7 is Titus, the general who destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in AD 70. The little horn in verse 9 is Antichus Epiphanes who ruled from 167 BC until 160 BC. He was a very evil man who according to the Maccabees and history, and fulfilled these scriptures. He went to war against Egypt, and was turned back by the Romans. Then while returning to Syria, he attacked Israel. He went into the temple, into the holy of holies and built a statue unto Zuses where the Ark of the Covenant belongs. Also he killed anyone who quoted or read the Torah. Macabee 1 chapter lays out every thing this monster did to the Jews. He stopped sacrifices to God, forbid the children to be circumcised, read the Macbees they are not evil fake books of the Catholic Bible they existed long before the Catholic Bible. They are Jewish history books, which tell us what happened in the so called 400 years of silence between Malachi, and Matthew. You will see what I am saying about this man Antichus. How he is this horn and how he fulfills these scriptures.

I have put this blog together to bring forth what I have learned in my years of study of Biblical endtime prophecy. So as I share Daniel with you I am not going through each chapter and verse but only with them that I believe pertain to end time prophecy. So here is Daniel Seven. I hope you enjoy the teaching .

Daniel 7
1. In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.
2. Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven brake forth upon the great sea.
3. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4. The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon two feet as a man; and a man’s heart was given to it.

This is clearly the same beast as Nebuchadnezzar had seen. Jeremiah 4 : 6,7 says 6. Set up a standard toward Zion: flee for safety, stay not; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
7. A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.
Nebuchadnezzar is the Lion, who was commissioned of God to punish the Jews. In Daniel chapter 2 Nebuchadnezzar is the head of gold, in this vision he is a lion. The eagle wings represent the power and speed that the Babylonians were able to conquer. When the wings are torn off this represents the lost of power in the Babylonian empire and the starting of their downfall and destruction under Belshazzar. The human heart is just stating that Babylon was no longer a great world power and able to be destroyed. This beast has nothing to do with the United States or England whatsoever.

5. And, behold, another beast, a second, like to a bear; and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Again as in chapter 2 the chest of silver, and the bear with three ribs in it’s mouth represent the same creature. Which was the Media-Persia empire. It is the next kingdom to come.

6. After this I beheld, and, lo, another, like a leopard, which had upon its back four wings of a bird; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

The third part of the vision in chapter 2 the bronze belly and thighs is the same as the leopard with the four wings of a bird. With four heads. It is the Greek empire of Alexander the great. The four wings and the four heads represent how his kingdom upon his death was divided up between his four generals. This is all proven in history, and the Macabees, and Josephus.

7. After this I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, a fourth beast, terrible and powerful, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

This is the same as the iron legs, feet and toes of the image in chapter 2. It is the fourth and last kingdom; the Roman empire. The 10 horns are as the ten toes the 10 Roman kings who would rule that kingdom up to AD 70. The Roman empire absorbed many countries into it which became provinces, which explains it had great iron teeth; it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet. The 10 horns are – 1. Julius Caesar, 2. Augustus , 3. Tiberius , 4. Caligula , 5. Claudius , 6. Nero , 7. Gaba , 8. Otho , 9. Vitellius , 10. Vesparian .

8. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.

The little horn mentioned here is Vesparian. It says that a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: the last 3 emperors all ruled in the year 69 BC. Vesparian was different then the rest because he was not an emperor, but a general, who with his army had already had Jerusalem under siege for 3 years. Then his son Titus, while his father was back in Rome claiming his throne, destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD.

9. I beheld till thrones were placed, and one that was ancient of days did sit: his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire.
10. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

This and verse 8 are speaking of God, and the fact that he rules the universe not mere men. And the day would come during the Roman empire that God would judge not only the empires who had held the whole world in their grip but also the Jewish people. They rejected the Messiah and their punishment was the exile of the people and the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. And that is exactly what Titius did in 70 AD. Fulfilling this prophecy.

11. I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake; I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.
12. And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

Eventually the Roman empire ceased to be a world power and became a church which still till this day rules with iron teeth. The other kingdoms still kingdoms but not world powers. The beast in the Bible are always kingdoms or world powers, so this can not be the anti-christ, or a person, it has to be the destruction of an empire or kingdom.

13. I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

This scripture was fulfilled when the Lord Jesus arose. The scriptures clearly state that His is a kingdom with out end. Also if you recall that the Lord Jesus clearly and repeatedly called himself the son of Man terminology the Jews should of understood from these scriptures.

15. As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth.
18. But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19.  Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was diverse from all of them, exceeding terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet;
20. and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows.
21.  I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22. until the ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23. Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24. And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings.
25. And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
26. But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
27. And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28. Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my countenance was changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

It is very clear here that the Roman empire is being spoken of. I might as well start here, if you are going to throw away my book, and call me a false teacher you will. But this is what my studies have taught me. The Bible clearly says here that there were to be 4 kingdoms with whom the Book of Daniel dealt with not a 5th one some day in the future. Many people make the little horn out to be the anti-christ during the great tribulation , this is not a correct interpretation of the Scriptures. It is very clearly stated in the Book of Daniel that these visions were for Daniel’s people, 9:24. Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. The book of Daniel can be explained in detail without making unexplained gaps in time as some would have you believe. History itself proves Daniel. The visions of Daniel were never meant to be for the Church. The Book of Daniel was fulfilled by AD 70. As was the scriptures in chapter 7 the Roman empire is the fourth and final kingdom laid out in the book of Daniel this vision tells of the rise and fall of the 4 ancient kingdoms, of God judging and punishing those kingdoms for their sins and of the punishment of the Jewish people for their rejection of the Messiah. And the fact that the Messiah would establish an eternal spiritual kingdom, which He did on His resurrection.

I am going to start my teaching on Daniel. If you read my first post you will see that I do not hold to fantasy stories to explain the Bible, especially the end time teachings. I believe the Bible always explains itself. If you seek out the Bible you will always be correct on your understanding of the Bible. I am going to just cover the books of Daniel that pertains to prophecies that are taught as end time scriptures. I hope you enjoy the following teaching and grow in your understanding of the Holy Scriptures.

Daniel Chapter 2: 27-49

27.  Daniel answered before the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded can neither wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor soothsayers, show unto the king;
28. but there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and he hath made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these:
29. as for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter; and he that revealeth secrets hath made known to thee what shall come to pass.
30. But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but to the intent that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that thou mayest know the thoughts of thy heart.
31. Thou, O king, sawest, and, behold, a great image. This image, which was mighty, and whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the aspect thereof was terrible.
32. As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass,
33. its legs of iron, its feet part of iron, and part of clay.
34. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon its feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them in pieces.
35. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken in pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36. This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37.  Thou, O king, art king of kings, unto whom the God of heaven hath given the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the glory;
38. and wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens hath he given into thy hand, and hath made thee to rule over them all: thou art the head of gold.
39. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee; and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron, forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things; and as iron that crusheth all these, shall it break in pieces and crush.
41. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43. And whereas thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron doth not mingle with clay.
44. And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45. Forasmuch as thou sawest that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

This is the first of many dreams and visions in the book of Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar was shown this dream by the Lord God to warn him. Josephus dates the dream as coming to Nebuchadnezzar as 579 BC, based on book 10, chapter 9, section 7, para. 181, 182, that in the fifth year from the destruction of Jerusalem which was July 18, 586, that Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Egyptians. He goes on to say, in book 10, chapter 10, section 3, para. 195, that two years after that time Nebuchadnezzar received this dream which would date the dream in the year of 579 BC. The dream starts with the head of Gold who Daniel tells us is Nebuchadnezzar, and ancient Babylon. The Babylonian empire existed from the fall of the Assyrian empire under Nabopolassar, in the year 609 BC. Until the death of Nabonidus on Oct. 12, 539 BC. Which is exactly 70 years, the time prophesied by Jeremiah that the Children of Israel would be under the Babylonians.
The breast and arms of silver were the Media-Persia empire which would arise under Cyrus the great, in the year 559 BC. The Media-Persia Empire continued until the death of Darius the III by Alexander the Great in the year 330 BC. So we have the Media-Persia Empire lasting 231 years.

The next part of the body was the belly and thighs of brass. This of course was the Macedonian Empire under Alexander the Great, also Alexander the 3rd. This empire which we will see later was divided up between his generals lasted from 336 BC, until .

The next part of the body is the legs of iron this of course is the Rome Empire started under Julius Caesar in 48 BC, until 325 AD under Constantine last Roman Emperor. With a period of 373 years. The toes, many teach are the 10 European kingdoms of the common market. I do not buy this. If you look at verse 40 Daniel says: and the fourth kingdom shall be as iron, etc. When he comes to the feet and toes he does not say and the fifth kingdom, he continues to speak of the same kingdom. Not a kingdom in the great future, he is telling that the Rome empire would be great but weak at the same time under all the other emperors. And I believe there were 10 Roman emperors Julius Caesar until the last at the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. I might as well get this on the table now. I can in no way get the book of Daniel to go pass AD 70. So Daniel was telling Nebuchadnezzar what the future held for all the world.

I believe that the 10 toes are just a continuation of the legs. Daniel is saying that the legs represent the main Roman empire and that the prophecy goes a little more in depth and tells us that this kingdom would have ten leaders up till AD 70 which it did. The 10 toes are – 1. Julius Caesar, 2. Augustus , 3. Tiberius , 4. Caligula , 5. Claudius , 6. Nero , 7. Gaba , 8. Otho , 9. Vitellius , 10. Vespasian .

I do not see the further kingdom of the anti-Christ what so ever here, or the European union.

46. Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commmanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors unto him.
47. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou hast been able to reveal this secret.
48. Then the king made Daniel great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him to rule over the whole province of Babylon, and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.
49. And Daniel requested of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel was in the gate of the king.

It is important to remember that these scriptures do not mention the Church or the kingdom of the Antichrist or else you will not be able to understand the rest of the book of Daniel as God meant for it to be understood. Look at the scriptures and cross reference them and you will see what you find out for yourself. Hope you enjoy the teaching. Earl

Why is Biblical prophecy so hard for people interupt. Some use fantasy teachings, or when trapped they resort to the good old reliable double prophecy fantasy. No where in the Bible does God ever tell us to use double prophecy to interupt scriptures, end time or other wise. I never heard so much nonsense until I started to listen to some of the end time prophets explain end events. Most of it is just plain fantasy stories made up by the different denominations. Like the rapture story, it was never taught in the church until a woman who was on her death bed saw vision of the rapture. Then a preacher by the name of Irving grabbed a hold of the idea, and started spreading this teaching all over the world. The cult he started who taught this is still called the Irvingites. So instead of main stream Christianity holding on to the truths of the Bible, they started teaching this woman’s vision as truth. And twisting scriptures to make it fit their little denomonational stories. I it is my hope by writting this blog, I can get people to turn back to interputing Biblical prophecy correctly. My next blog will start covering my understanding of the book of Daniel, and I will then continue through the Bible sharing what I have learned in my years of researching Biblical prophecy. Thank you for reading and please feel free to leave your comments on the about page.
